Who we are

Bivigo is a map-based database of mountain huts, bivouacs, and shelters across Central Europe. This site is operated by David Petr, a solo founder.

What data we collect

User accounts

When you create an account (via the Profile page), we store:

• Your email address
• Your Clerk user ID (an opaque identifier assigned by our authentication provider)
• The timestamp your account was created

Account authentication is handled by Clerk, which stores your credentials and OAuth tokens on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement. Clerk’s privacy policy is available at clerk.com/privacy.

Legal basis: contract performance — you create an account in order to use the saved-huts feature.

Saved huts (favorites)

When you save a hut while signed in, we store the shelter ID linked to your account. This data exists solely to display your saved huts across devices. Favorites are permanently deleted when you delete your account (see Account deletion below).

If you save huts while not signed in, the IDs are stored in your browser’s local storage only — they never leave your device until you create an account, at which point they are migrated to your account and removed from local storage.

Email addresses (waitlist signup)

If you submitted your email address via the early-access form, we store:

• Your email address
• Which page you signed up from (“saved” or “profile”)
• A cryptographically hashed version of your IP address. We cannot recover the original IP from this hash — it exists only to detect abuse.
• The timestamp of your signup

We share this data with MailerLite(our email delivery provider), which processes emails on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement. MailerLite’s privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Legal basis: your consent, given when you submit the form. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@bivigo.app.

Analytics (everyone who visits)

We use Umami, a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics tool. Umami collects aggregate statistics (page views, referrers, country-level location, browser type) but does not set cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not create a persistent identifier for you.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not use advertising cookies.
• We do not use tracking pixels.
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
• We do not store your raw IP address.
• We do not share your saved huts with other users or third parties.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time. Go to Profile → Account → Delete account and confirm. This immediately and irreversibly deletes:

• Your Bivigo account record and Clerk credentials
• All saved huts linked to your account

Waitlist email signups (if any) are stored separately and are not affected by account deletion. To remove those, email hello@bivigo.app.

How long we keep your data

Account data (email, user ID, saved huts) is kept until you delete your account or until Bivigo shuts down, whichever comes first.

Waitlist email signups are kept until you ask us to delete them or until Bivigo shuts down.

Analytics data is retained for 12 months in aggregate form.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Object to processing
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, email existing subscribers.
